Previous Jew Hatred on the InternetExample, a few years ago, dmoz.org, also known as the Netscape Open directory had a listing of Jewish "hate sites". I know this, because my site, Middle East Facts, was one of the sites in this list, along with a few others (here is an archived page). Some people may ask "how did this happen"? Well, what happened, was a young ultra-liberal Jew got editing privileges and decided that he was going to declare some pro-Israel sites, including one by the Lubbavitch movement (!) to be a "hate site". This happens and it will happen. What this incident taught me was to learn why it happened and take steps to reverse what happened. In this case, myself and Chuck Chriss, from the Jewish Internet Association put together some well-placed emails and phone calls. Chuck reached the editor-in-chief of DMOZ who was sympathetic to our issue and took steps to personally make some sweeping changes. I ended up becoming an editor at DMOZ - anybody can. |
